This is a set of photographs taken using a conventional camera. I was interested in the way that, under a dark canopy of summer leaves, pinhole images of the sun are projected onto the ground. Next time you are enjoying the dappled light in a leafy woodland, look closely for the small round circles amongst the various patterns on the forest floor. These are caused as the leaves cross over each other, creating their own little pinhole apertures.
While attempting to record this, I became fascinated by the personalities of the shadows cast by different species of tree: each one quite distinct from the next.
This is part of an ongoing series and more will be added this year.
