Current blog entry

I am currently focused on photographing all of my existing Carbon Light Life work using a very high quality digital camera. The images are to be taken in sections and stiched together digitally, thus enabling the maximum amount of detail to be recorded. Each work will be printed at actual size to the original. I am pleased with the results so far, as this system compares favourably (is actually better than) the large format film images I had taken of some of the work for the catalogue.

As a result of the digitisation, I will be able to offer the work as an exhibition of prints rather than have the full set-up of wall mounted light-boxes to have to hang. The originals are wonderful to see in the flesh but are very heavy to transport and move around, and not to mention fragile. It is a compromise but one that some venues will be more than happy to accept.

I will also be able to offer limited edition runs of the full sized prints, also making the work more accessable.

Spending a lot of my time in the blacked out studio has meant less time out in the woods recently. hence no new blog posts. It is a wonderful time of year, with the new leaves appearing on the oaks opposite my house, the beech have been out for more that a week now and the hedgerows are full of colour. Red campion seems to be very abundant this season as well as Ramsons (wild garlic) in the valley of the river Teign. Its bluebell time in the woods on Dartmoor, so I really must get out with my camera as soon as I can.
